1) What is a web site?
A web site is a page, or series of pages of information delivered to a computer screen that can be seen by anyone who types in the address of those pages (such as www.lanzads.com). Or you can arrive at the site via a Search Engine (such as www.google.com) (the www bit isn’t always necessary but some places require it. The full address may also have http://www at the front, but this is not usually necessary)  A web site is essentially words and pictures but can allow people to contact you via electronic mail (e-Mail) or supply their contact details to go on your e-mailing list. There’s much more that can be done, but that’s another story. Back to Top

2) Why would I want a web site?
Basically so people can find out more about you, your business or your project. Its available 24 hrs a day 7 days a week 52 weeks a year, and it can be updated. You can put it on your letterhead or visiting card to increase your communication detail. As well as pointing your contacts to your web site, most popularly people can find you, on Search Engines, depending on the search words they use and the content of your site.. There are ways of ensuring your web site is more visible on a Search Engine. This is called Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) When people find you, they may contact you. If you are in business then this could be a job and money, but equally, information or co-operation. Back to Top

11) How long does it take to appear on Search Engines?
Google is the main one to consider we will register your new site with Google although there is a delay of 5 or 6 weeks in a site becoming listed..There is no other Search Engine Registration but you can easily do it yourslef Back to Top

12) Who would see my site?
Potentially anyone depending what they typed into a search engine that has your details. One of our sites achieved 4 million clicks a month, although this does take extra work. Back to Top

13) How would people contact me?
From the details you supply, an email address definitely and a phone number is also a good idea. Back to Top

14) Would I get people coming to my house?
No, unless you wanted them to, by supplying a postal address. Obvgiously if you have business premises then you would list your street address. Your sub domain address shows no registration details on the internet and we would never give out your details to anyone. Presumably you would supply a phone number and email address and this is how you would be contacted

15) Do people in Lanzarote need a web site?
Admittedly a lot of communication is by word of mouth and periodicals but remember, the largest part of the island’s population is its visitors. If you have a service that visitors may enjoy and can find you easily, booking or buying before they come, them you score and add to your contacts list. Also visitors tend to have greater spending power than locals! Internet use may not be quite universal but we are certainly at the stage that anyone without a web address is missing out! There is no reason to wait. One extra enquiry may pay for your site!Back to Top

16) What if I haven’t even got an E-mail address?
No problem. We’ll set you up with one for free. Although Hotmail is popular we recommend Gmail Back to Top

17) And if I don’t have a computer?
This may give you the reason to get one. We have contacts on the island who can help you with new and second hand machines. In the meantime, your web site still works without having a computer and locally most people would phone you anyway. Otherwise, you can check your mail ay an internet café or with a friend Back to Top
